JPMorgan AM Raises $1.5 Billion for Forest & Climate Solutions Fund
Mark Segal
April 10, 2025
J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s timberland investment advisory company Campbell Global announced that it has raised $1.5 billion at the close of its responsible forest management-focused Forest & Climate Solutions Fund II.
The fund significantly exceeded its initial $1 billion fundraising target, and the firm added that it also closed several separate account mandates, bringing the total capital raise for its timberland management strategy to $2.3 billion.
John Gilleland, Chief Executive Officer of Campbell Global, said:
“We’re very pleased to put our decades of experience in global timberland management to work for this quality group of investors interested in responsibly managed forests that generate income and value-appreciation and are a positive climate solution. Along with the financial attributes, the removal of carbon, protection of water, and enhancement of biodiversity and habitats encompass some of the important work we do in the forests on behalf of our investors.”
J.P. Morgan Asset Management acquired Campbell Global in 2021, in a move aimed at providing investors with direct access to the forestry sector and alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and enabling the firm to directly participate in transition to a low-carbon economy, with the company expecting to become an active participant in carbon offset markets as they develop.
Campbell Global’s Forest & Climate Solutions Fund II, launched in 2022, uses a blended approach supporting both traditional timber production and carbon sequestration, with the firm highlighting benefits from its approach including nature-based carbon removal and storage and biodiversity.
The fund currently holds three unique timberland properties totalling approximately 212,000 acres, which are 100% managed in accordance with sustainable forestry initiative standards, and are managed for both carbon capture and timber production.
Jed Laskowitz, Global Head of Private Markets and Customized Solutions at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, said:
“This strategy is a unique investment option for our clients, offering diversification from traditional asset classes and income generation, and timberland management is a proven inflation hedge. Given its decades of experience, Campbell Global is well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities in this sector.”
