Uniting over 50 CDR industry members, including corporations, startups, and scale-ups, the DVNE aims to catalyze the CDR advancement in Germany, a sector that holds immense economical and climate potential for the country. Last week, Germany made the historic decision to include its 2045 net-zero goal into its constitution (Grundgesetz), setting a precedent of climate responsibility for the global community. Led by the motto of “Think Negative for a Positive Future”, the campaign launched by the DVNE aligns with the national climate vision, calling for concerted action that would help position Germany as a leader in the sphere of carbon dioxide removal. The campaign calls on businesses to act as role models and make long-term investments in CDR. These investments would help companies achieve their climate targets, offering them a chance for familiarization with negative emission regulations before they come into force on a bigger level. «Finance is key to scaling CDR,» Jim Mann, UNDO CEO & FounderFor Germany to be able to unlock more than $75 billion (€70 billion) annually and 190,000 new jobs from this industry, the campaign calls on the new German government to advocate for negative emissions at the international level. This translates to dedicated targets for negative emissions within the framework of the EU’s 2040 climate goals and the promotion of joint funding at the G7/EU level or within the Climate Club.Relevant: Germany To Invest $3.7 Billion In Industry Transition And Carbon StorageThe federal government should take specific measures to achieve the goals of the German Climate Protection Act (KSG), and it should adopt the long-term strategy for negative emissions (LNe), with separate targets for natural and technical carbon sinks. The country must invest in negative emissions, introducing the first market-based support programs and market incentives by 2025.Lastly, the Think Negative campaign calls on the government to swiftly implement the Carbon Management Strategy, coordinating public and private stakeholders as part of a “Carbon Infrastructure” task force.Read more: New Puro.earth Report Shows CDR Market Growth Led By EMEA And The Americas 0 0 0 CDR GermanyDVNEGerman Association for Negative EmissionsThink NegativeSubscribe to Our Weekly Newsletter Get the Latest News About the Carbon Industry Subscribe By checking this box, you confirm that you have read and are agreeing to our terms of use regarding the storage of the data submitted through this form.
