Ecologi Acquires Carbon Measurement Solution Provider Net Zero Now

February 11, 2025
UK-based Climate solutions-focused platform Ecologi announced the acquisition of carbon measurement and reduction platform Net Zero Now. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ecologi said that the new combined entity will create a tailored and complete solution helping businesses lead their industries towards net zero, bringing together sector-specific carbon measurement and reduction capabilities with access to climate projects and investments that help businesses offset their environmental impact.
Founded in 2019, Ecologi funds climate solution projects including reforestation, habitat restoration, and carbon avoidance and removal, operating internationally. Among the 24,000 businesses it works with are Co-op, O2, BAFTA Albert, ITV, Ubisoft, Oracle, Capgemini, and Mulberry, along with 300+ businesses certified by B Corps for their commitment to positive social and environmental impact. According to the company, it has helped collectively fund the planting of over 87 million trees, the avoidance of 3.4m verified tons of CO2e carbon dioxide equivalent, the restoration of over 31,000 square meters of wildlife habitats in the UK, and the removal of over 11,000 tons of CO2.
Net Zero Now, founded in 2021, provides a platform that enables businesses to follow a sector-specific path to carbon net zero using tools to calculate, reduce and compensate for their GHG emissions. According to the company it has during its lifetime measured and validated 1.8 Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e) lifetime emissions supporting more than 50+ leading brands including Coca Cola Europacific Partners, L’Orèal, Heineken, Pernod Ricard, Subway, Hard Rock Cafe, Adnams, Edgbaston and James Cowper Kreston.
With organizations under increasingly complex stakeholder and industry compliance demands for environmental accountability, the acquisition will also help Ecologi customers with tools to streamline reporting, monitor supply chain transparency, and provide voluntary disclosures, enabling them to meet regulatory requirements like SECR, CSRD and SBTi, the company said.
Dimitri Theocharis, CEO of Ecologi, said:
“This acquisition represents an evolution in how businesses can approach climate leadership. Companies need solutions, not tools. At the same time, sectors have diverse characteristics and needs. By combining Net Zero Now’s sector-specific protocol expertise with Ecologi’s platform funding top-tier climate projects, we’re creating a tailored and complete solution helping businesses lead their industries towards net zero.”
The tools will give specific sectors, such as accounting, hospitality, and the public sector, the ability to create custom climate impact reports. It will also enable the creation of embeddable dashboards; provide a communications toolkit for board and stakeholder engagement; and measure Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions with sector-specific industry GHG protocols. Ecologi added that it would seek to expand its presence in the hospitality and professional services sectors as well expand across additional industries throughout 2025.
Neil Ross Russell, Managing Director of Net Zero Now, said:
“Businesses want to take climate action, but they want to know they’re doing it right and what’s right for a restaurant business is not the same as what’s right for an accounting firm. They need industry-specific guidance and clear pathways to climate leadership. By joining forces with Ecologi, we’re creating a platform that allows us to provide credible, simple and affordable, sector-specific, end-to-end climate solutions for businesses in our existing sectors and collaborate with industry partners on new sector-led solutions.”
