Fidelity International has launched two new sustainable bond funds, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable investment strategies. The new funds, Fidelity Funds 2 – Sustainable Social Bond Fund and Fidelity Funds 2 – Sustainable Global Corporate Bond Fund, are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Both funds are classified as Article 9 under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), ensuring that 100% of investments are geared towards sustainable goals. This launch addresses the estimated $4 trillion annual funding gap towards achieving the SDGs, a global initiative aimed at fostering environmental protection and enhancing the quality of life.
The Sustainable Social Bond Fund focuses on investments that promote social objectives, such as economic inclusion, health, poverty reduction, and essential services. Meanwhile, the Sustainable Global Corporate Bond Fund offers a diversified investment strategy targeting corporate debt securities aligned with the SDGs.
Christophe Gloser, Head of European Distribution at Fidelity International, emphasized the significance of these funds, stating,_ “We are pleased to be building on our sustainable fund range, with these latest launches part of our drive to provide clients with the ability to invest in Article 9 and SDG aligned strategies. These funds are a complementary solution to our sustainable global equity strategies, providing clients with a range of sustainable building blocks. In addition, it builds upon our progress in the growth of the climate bond strategy, which recently surpassed $320m in assets under management.“
