Are you a nonprofit management professional looking for an opportunity to use your knowledge and experience with federal programs and urban forestry management to help take USDN’s mission to the next level? We are seeking a highly motivated Urban Forestry Program Manager to join our team.
As the Urban Forestry Program Manager, you will be instrumental in helping us live into our values of information transparency and collaborating with intention. In this role, you will provide program management and community engagement support to the Urban Forestry as Equity-Centered Climate Action and Sustainable Community Development initiative. You will manage a portfolio of urban forestry projects funded by the US Forest Service and work closely with key team members and contractors to ensure the success of these projects.
Responsibilities include:
– Providing program management and ongoing support to the Urban Forestry Program, including strategic program development, grantee project management, and relationship management.
– Serving as the data lead for Grantee project tracking to assess impact and ensure proper reporting.
– Offering technical assistance initiatives and support to grantees.
– Developing and deploying metrics for urban forestry project impact and ensuring alignment with program goals.
– Fostering collaboration between grantees and USDN/CRS, partners, and re-granters.
– Guiding grantees on reporting processes and content and coordinating alignment across key parties.
– Supporting urban forestry field development analysis.
Qualifications:
– Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, effectively tracking large-scale projects with complex stakeholder involvement.
– Basic knowledge or interest in urban forestry in the U.S., including experience with tree management plans.
– Experience preparing and administering contracts and agreements, with a focus on forest management.
– Experience working with professional organizations and government agencies involved in climate resilience and sustainability solutions.
– Experience designing, convening, and supporting workshops, training, and coaching sessions.
– Strong documentation, record-keeping, and budget management skills.
– Experience in developing and evaluating climate resilience programs.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
– Ability to work collaboratively and advance outcomes with internal staff and external partners.
– Ability to design and facilitate productive workshops, brainstorming and training sessions, public presentations, and events.
– Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Zoom, and Salesforce.
– Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work with diverse audiences and manage multiple stakeholders.
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to USDN’s Interim Executive Director. The compensation range for this position is expected to be between $70,000 and $85,000 annually. USDN offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, disability, and life insurance, flexible leave policy, generous paid leave, and a 401(k) program. This is a fully remote position, and work hours are flexible.
