Job Description:
The City of Piedmont is seeking a motivated and experienced Sustainability Project Manager to lead comprehensive sustainability programs and initiatives. As the Sustainability Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and administering Citywide programs related to environmental management and sustainability. Your main duties will include developing program goals and objectives, providing support to City management staff, acting as the external liaison for sustainability programs, and overseeing the delivery of public engagement and education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop, administer, and evaluate program policies and procedures for the City’s climate action program, clean water program, and solid waste collection and diversion programs.
– Serve as a technical resource on sustainability initiatives, policies, and programs, working closely with City departments to establish sustainable practices applicable to their functions.
– Assist with the development of technical compliance requirements for sustainability programs, such as the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program.
– Maintain oversight of the City’s solid waste collection service agreement, conducting waste characterization studies and performance audits.
– Evaluate proposed sustainability measures through life cycle and cost/benefit analysis to prioritize investment.
– Implement mechanisms to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend procedural changes for enhanced effectiveness.
– Identify and apply for relevant grants, review grant requirements, and manage grant administration.
– Develop and administer environmental program budgets, including contract administration and invoice processing.
– Provide technical and functional direction to staff, oversee work activities, and provide training on program operations.
– Collaborate with community organizations and individuals to arrange and coordinate services, conduct community outreach, and increase awareness of program offerings.
– Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and technology related to sustainability programs and implement policy and procedural changes as necessary.
– Make presentations to community groups and organizations, attend meetings and conferences related to program goals and objectives, and serve as a liaison for assigned programs.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, environmental science, environmental engineering, planning, or a related field.
– Three years of progressively responsible experience in environmental program development, coordination, and/or implementation.
– Knowledge of sustainable development principles, environmental compliance programs, and environmental policies and regulations.
– Strong project and program management skills, including budget development and monitoring.
– Ability to analyze, interpret, and present technical information effectively.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with various stakeholders.
– Valid California class C driver’s license preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
The monthly salary for this position ranges from $8,358 to $10,160. In addition to competitive pay, the City of Piedmont offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical coverage, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, vacation leave, personal leave, holidays, sick leave, and professional development reimbursement.
