About SSDN:
The Southeast Sustainability Directors Network (SSDN) is a collaborative community that develops solutions to the South’s unique sustainability challenges. SSDN’s membership includes sustainability and resilience staff from across the South who build knowledge and learn from colleagues in other areas about best practices to meet their community’s needs. Communities located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, working in all stages of sustainability implementation, join the network to scale, accelerate, and implement sustainable best practices so that our region’s communities are equipped to adapt to and mitigate climate change. For more information, please visit www.southeastsdn.org.
SSDN Federal Programs:
SSDN members have applied for a number of grants to address sustainability and resilience in their communities, but capacity is often limited to win and implement projects using federal funding. To respond to this need and to provide greater assistance, SSDN has launched three programs, all focused on federal funding capacity building and direct support (outlined below).
SSDN created the Southeast Sustainable Recovery Center in the summer of 2021 to deploy a Southeast-specific economic recovery support mechanism that can consistently serve SSDN member communities by accessing funding to support their local sustainability and resilience initiatives. The SSRC:
– Maintains focused tracking of federal funding opportunities and presents them to local sustainability leaders as avenues of innovation to serve the frontline communities most impacted by climate change
– Seeks to strengthen the capacity of local government sustainability and resilience staff, government liaisons, development teams, and other actors to successfully access and implement sustainable economic recovery programs
– Creates partnerships to support equitable, sustainable
