Description:
The Southeast Sustainability Directors Network (SSDN) is currently seeking a Director of Federal Technical Assistance to join our team. As the Director of Federal Technical Assistance, you will be responsible for directing SSDN’s technical support under the Multimedia Environmental Finance Center (EFC) for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4. You will provide assistance to Southeastern local governments in accessing federal funding for sustainability and resilience projects, as well as support the coordination of collaborative efforts with SSDN members, elected officials, state and federal agencies, and partners.
Responsibilities:
– Manage and direct SSDN’s Technical Support via its Federal Programs, which focus on providing assistance to Southeastern local governments to be more competitive for national funding opportunities
– Support a coordinated engagement process to enable more funding to flow into the Southeast for sustainability and resilience projects
– Lead and direct collaborative efforts with SSDN’s members and other stakeholders to produce innovative and equitable sustainability and resilience solutions at the regional level
– Coordinate with SSDN’s national partner and fiscal sponsor, USDN, on scaling collaborative approaches to this work
– Provide management and oversight of SSDN’s direct support programs, including planning, scheduling, and facilitating frequent meetings
– Perform technical expertise and guidance to communities for NEPA review requirements and federal funding access
– Develop communications materials and tools tailored to diverse communities
– Track progress metrics and data to monitor progress and adjust programs as needed
– Liaise with funders, including EPA, other federal agencies, and philanthropy
– Support ongoing data analysis needs using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
– Travel as needed, up to 20% of the time
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ work experience equivalent
– Experience with federal funding opportunities and technical processes
– Experience working with local governments
– Experience with GIS strongly preferred
– Experience with sustainability and resilience projects, particularly in the areas of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, or water management
– Ability to travel as part of this job, up to 20% of the time
Skills:
– Strong project management and program development skills
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Zoom
– Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members
– Flexibility to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the position
– Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment
Compensation:
– $90,000-$105,000, depending on experience + robust benefits package
