Job Description:
The Climate Reality Project, founded by former US Vice President Al Gore, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to catalyzing global solutions to the climate crisis. Our mission is to make urgent action a necessity across all sectors of society. We are seeking an intern for our Global Youth Programs team to assist with programming, resource development, and support for our US-based network of volunteers aged 25 and under, with a focus on the Green Schools Campaign (GSC). The GSC is a student-led initiative that promotes advocacy and grassroots organizing to transition educational institutions to 100% renewable energy and advance sustainability policies.
Responsibilities:
– Support the Global Youth Programs team in various Climate Reality programs, especially the Green Schools Campaign
– Assist with volunteer outreach, recruitment, curriculum development, media engagement, and student leader coaching for the GSC
– Contribute to the creation of online and offline content and resources for the GSC and broader Global Youth Program
– Maintain communication with GSC leaders and volunteers through email, phone calls, and Zoom meetings
– Research and track news and successes related to the Youth Program, specifically focusing on the GSC
– Conduct research on the broader youth climate movement
Required Skills and Abilities:
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Creative problem-solving abilities and experience working as part of a team
– Interest in environmental advocacy and addressing the climate crisis
– Experience in volunteer education and outreach, especially working with students or young people
– Previous work in nonprofit advocacy, the climate movement, or political campaigns
– Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
– Training or experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or environmental justice
