Job Description:
Pacific Environment is currently seeking a Singapore Climate Specialist to lead their climate work in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have experience in government relations, climate issues, decarbonization, sustainability, and program development. The role will involve working towards achieving zero-emission shipping in Singapore, as well as supporting clean energy shipping and grassroots capacity building.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement strategies to achieve 100% zero-emission shipping in Singapore
– Coordinate program activities and timelines for successful program management
– Cultivate partnerships with government officials, industry representatives, and other stakeholders
– Engage with port officials, policymakers, and corporations to advance shipping-specific policy changes
– Produce policy analyses, memos, and advocacy products as needed
– Represent Pacific Environment in key policy forums and with the press
– Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
– At least 7 years of experience in relevant fields such as NGO administration, government relations, advocacy, or climate issues
– Demonstrated expertise in climate/energy issues and policies, including experience in shipping or other heavy industry sectors
– Strong program development and campaign implementation skills
– Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to analyze and articulate complex issues to various audiences
– Experience in building relationships with diverse stakeholders
– Proficiency in English is required, fluency in Malay, Mandarin, and/or Tamil is a plus
– Passion for solving the climate crisis
Location, Travel, and Work Hours:
This position has a flexible, remote work location within Singapore. Some travel within Singapore, and potentially internationally, is expected. The position’s working hours are generally standard with flexibility, although there may be some earlier morning hours (7am-10am SGT) to collaborate with PE colleagues in the United States.
Compensation:
Pacific Environment provides compensation commensurate with experience and offers a full benefits package for staff positions. The salary for this position is carefully considered to account for equity, and the final offer will be based on the candidate’s qualifications.
