Job Description:
Pacific Environment is seeking a Singapore Climate Specialist with experience in government relations, climate issues, decarbonization, and/or sustainability. The primary responsibility of the role is to lead the organization’s climate work in Singapore, including helping Singapore meet its climate pledge and expanding Pacific Environment’s climate-related initiatives in the region. This includes expertise in clean energy shipping, port policies, and freight policies.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in program development and implementation, power mapping, research, and stakeholder engagement. They should have experience engaging with stakeholders in East Asian countries and be fluent in English. Proficiency in Malay, Mandarin, or Tamil is a plus.

Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement localized strategies to achieve zero-emission shipping in Singapore
– Coordinate and plan program activities
– Work closely with global teams to ensure strategy alignment
– Cultivate partnerships and coordinate with coalition partners
– Work with port officials, policymakers, corporations, and allies to advance shipping-specific policy changes
– Produce policy analyses and advocacy materials
– Represent Pacific Environment in key policy forums and with various stakeholders

Qualifications:
– At least 7 years of experience in NGO administration, government relations, advocacy, or related fields
– Expertise in climate/energy issues and policies, particularly in shipping and port industries
– Track record of managing and winning regional or international campaigns
– Skills in advocacy, consensus-building, and coalition-building
– Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
– Experience in managing external consultants or coordinating events
– Ability to work independently and manage both projects and teams
– Familiarity with Singaporean business practices and cultural fluency

Compensation:
Pacific Environment provides competitive compensation commensurate with experience and offers a full benefits package for staff positions. The salary range for this position is carefully considered for equity and will be based on the candidate’s qualifications.
