Job Description:
Great Bay Stewards is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Coordinator for the Seven Rivers to the Coast project. This initiative aims to increase understanding and engagement with the waterways in the Great Bay-Piscataqua watershed in coastal New Hampshire and southern Maine. As the Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the newly branded website and related communication platforms. You will work closely with environmental organizations and specialists in the region, fostering relationships and developing content. This is a part-time, contract position with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
– Write and edit content to keep the website current and compelling
– Develop new and repurposed content for the e-newsletter
– Curate and schedule social media content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
– Foster and maintain relationships with like-minded organizations in the region to share and develop content
– Develop and maintain a mailing list for the newsletter
– Design graphics for flyers, event programs, and posters
– Track and report on web, email, and social media metrics using Google Analytics and other tools
– Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
– Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in Marketing, Communications, Sustainability Management, Environmental Policy, or related field
– 1-3 years of experience with website and social media management, as well as e-newsletter development and distribution
– Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with the ability to compose engaging and accurate content
– Creative thinker who is committed to finding new ways of engaging people and building a culture of stewardship
– Ability to understand and translate technical content for non-technical audiences
– Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
– Proficient in Canva, Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, and video editing software
– Capable photographer, videographer, and visual storyteller
– Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
– Passion for water resources and environmental sustainability
Compensation: The salary for this 20-hour per week contract position is $40-50 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits are not available.
