Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 (specific range shared during interview based on candidate’s geographic location)

Their mission is to create and advance solutions to the world’s most pressing water challenges. They work with diverse groups including major corporations, policymakers, NGOs, and communities.
About the Position:
The Senior Researcher will play a pivotal role in supporting the Pacific Institute’s programs, particularly the activities focused on advancing corporate water stewardship in California. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the California Water Resilience Initiative, a private sector initiative aimed at achieving a water-resilient future for California in alignment with public sector goals. Additionally, the Senior Researcher will represent the Pacific Institute in the California Water Action Collaborative and be a member of the CEO Water Mandate team.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Manager, California Water Resilience Initiative (~80%)
– Coordinate with Fortune 500 corporations to develop and implement a roadmap for achieving shared corporate water stewardship impact goals.
– Lead the development and deployment of an impact measurement system to track progress towards shared goals.
– Schedule and lead regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
– Involve stakeholders in decision-making processes related to the initiative’s design, implementation, and evaluation.
– Forge strategic partnerships with stakeholders that can contribute resources, expertise, or support to the project.
– Coordinate with the Communications & Outreach staff to share success stories and raise the profile of the initiative.
2. Pacific Institute representative, California Water Action Collaborative (~10%)
– Attend monthly virtual meetings and annual in-person meetings.
– Act as a liaison between the California Water Resilience Initiative and the California Water Action Collaborative.
– Support any active Pacific Institute-led projects within the Collaborative.
3. Team member, CEO Water Mandate (~10%)
– Attend bi-weekly team meetings.
– Provide regular updates to the CEO Water Mandate team on the California corporate water stewardship work.
– Coordinate with the global CEO Water Mandate engagement team and communications/events team on California-related activities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
– Advanced degree in water resources, natural resource management, corporate sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or a relevant field.
– Strong grasp and experience in corporate water stewardship concepts, methodologies, and implementation practices.
– Deep knowledge and expertise in California water policy and management.
– Minimum of 7 years of work experience in relevant field(s).
– Ability to work independently and efficiently, use good judgment, and deliver results in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
– Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills.
– Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
– Proficient in MS Office.
