Senior Development Manager – Chicago Food Policy Action Council
Chicago Food Policy Action Council (CFPAC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Development Manager. This is a full-time position based in Chicago, Illinois.

CFPAC was founded in 2002 as a coalition and became a 501c3 nonprofit in 2011. We connect people across Chicago’s food system to build equitable networks and to advance food justice and food sovereignty. Our mission is to envision a food system where residents of all races, genders, and social identities have the right to produce and access food through community-driven, ecologically regenerative, and economically resilient processes. We specifically focus on dismantling structural racism in the food system and lifting up food policies that support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
Position Overview:
The Senior Development Manager will play a key role in driving private funding strategies, managing donor and funder relations, and overseeing select fundraising operations. This is a new position at CFPAC, designed for an individual interested in joining a meaningful mission, creating and building effective systems from the ground up, and cultivating transformational relationships to build sustainable funding for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Drive private funding strategy and planning, including securing investment-level donations and identifying new relationships and proposals for unrestricted and general operating support.
– Manage donor and funder relations, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
– Support external development messaging and ensure consistency with CFPAC’s mission and vision.
– Oversee select fundraising operations and coordinate data reporting on fundraising efforts.
Qualifications:
– At least 5-7 years of demonstrated fundraising experience with positive outcomes in relational giving with individuals, foundations, and corporations.
– Proven ability to achieve annual revenue targets in the nonprofit sector or comparable sales role.
– Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
– Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in donor record management and communications.
– Experience in local, regional, state, and/or national level food system change and advocacy is a plus.
Total Rewards Package:
The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $88,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
