Position: Senior Climate Coordinator
Location: Dallas, Texas, United States
The City of Dallas is seeking a highly motivated Senior Climate Coordinator to lead climate planning and public engagement efforts related to the city’s Comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan (CECAP). The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the CECAP, promoting the city’s sustainability initiatives and representing the city in public forums on sustainability matters.
Responsibilities:
– Oversee the CECAP team, managing 4 to 6 FTE positions.
– Design and implement education and outreach programs on best environmental practices for employees, businesses, and residents.
– Manage sustainability programs, setting goals, recruiting partners, handling logistics, and evaluating progress.
– Coordinate event participation by the Office of Environmental Quality & Sustainability (OEQS) staff and represent the city at related events.
– Create presentations for staff, businesses, and community members on new programs, policies, or other EQS efforts.
– Showcasing individuals, businesses, and projects for recognition of leadership in sustainability.
– Build internal and external partnerships and communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
– Provide timely and responsive service to OEQS customers, including city departments, citizens, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Science, Arts, Applied Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Laws, Education, Fine Arts, Commerce, and/or Business). Master’s degree and three years of related experience or Associate’s Degree and seven years of experience will substitute for the Bachelor’s degree and five years.
– Thorough knowledge of climate sustainability, including climate mitigation and adaptation measures.
– Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to climate sustainability.
– Demonstrated ability to manage teams and programs.
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Ability to work independently with minimal direction and exercise initiative and independent judgment.
– Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
– Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with city and regulatory agency personnel.
The City of Dallas is offering a budgeted annual salary range of $70,080.75 to $87,600.94, with a midpoint of $78,840.84.
