USDN supports local government practitioners in becoming proactive, anticipatory, and effective agents of change in the areas of racial justice, sustainability, and climate preparedness.
Job Description:
As a Program Manager in the Direct Support and Innovation (DSI) team, you will have the opportunity to support and co-design transformational learning sessions with local government teams and community members. Your role will involve providing coaching, facilitation, and guidance to support innovation and transformative action. You will also assist in program conceptualization, design, and delivery, focusing on areas such as racial equity, power-shifting, and whole human approaches in planning and project work.
Responsibilities:
1. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Focus:
– Maintain competency in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and incorporate EDI principles into program design and delivery.
– Identify and respond to EDI challenges faced by members.
2. Supporting Projects and Programs:
– Track deadlines, schedule programs, and coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure effective program delivery.
– Contribute to developing website content and materials for program promotion.
– Manage communication with members and partners and maintain program records.
3. Facilitation and Coaching:
– Design and deliver adaptive and innovative learning programs.
– Provide coaching rooted in transformative and regenerative practices.
– Support and facilitate affinity spaces and guide learning in non-curriculum led spaces.
4. Communications and Relationship Building:
– Collaborate with internal teams to foster cross-team and cross-staff collaboration.
– Share learnings and ideas within the DSI team and with other internal teams.
– Develop positive working relationships with programmatic partner organizations.
Qualifications:
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in sustainability and climate justice fields.
– Experience in working with BIPOC communities.
– Skilled in small and large group facilitation and leadership coaching on racial equity and inclusive practices.
– Familiarity with climate and sustainability practices and policies relevant to local governments.
– Proficiency in digital collaboration tools such as Google Suite, Zoom, Slack, and Salesforce.
– Ability to manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously.
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Terms of Employment:
– This is a full-time, regular, exempt position.
– Compensation range: $75,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications.

– This is a fully remote position, with occasional travel for program delivery (approximately 10%).
– Work hours: 9am-5pm Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific Standard Times (flexible); 40 hours/week.
