The Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability is seeking a qualified Principal Air Quality Specialist (AQS) to join their team. The department is dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment in Las Vegas, Nevada. Job Description:
The Principal Air Quality Specialist will be responsible for supervising, reviewing, evaluating, and assisting with the work of professional and technical support staff involved in air quality planning. This position requires at least four years of progressively responsible air quality program experience. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, open-minded, and a critical thinker. They should have strong problem-solving skills and be adaptable to changing circumstances and priorities. Additionally, they should have supervisory experience, value equity, and have the ability to communicate with diverse groups.
Responsibilities:
– Plan, oversee, review, and evaluate the work of a major programmatic area within the department
– Direct and coordinate the work of technical staff and contractors
– Provide training to technical staff and contractors
– Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the program(s)
– Coordinate budget development and administer expenditures
– Prepare reports, correspondence, and other written materials
– Conduct research and analysis
– Maintain accurate records and files related to areas of assignment
Qualifications:
– Master’s Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, Public Administration, or a related field
– Four (4) years of full-time professional experience in environmental management and pollution control or a directly related field
– Experience in a public agency setting and project or programmatic supervisory experience is desirable
– Knowledge of air quality planning and regulations is preferred
– Possession of a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at the time of appointment may be required for specified positions
