Job Description:
FUSE Corps, a national nonprofit organization, is seeking a FUSE Executive Fellow to update and modernize the fee schedule for the Urban Forestry Division of the City of Los Angeles. The Executive Fellow will work closely with the Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Street Services to align the fee schedule with economic and environmental considerations related to tree removal and protection. This project aims to support and expand urban tree coverage in Los Angeles, creating a greener and healthier urban environment for all residents.
Duration: April 22, 2024 – April 21, 2025
Responsibilities:
– Collect and analyze financial and environmental data related to the fee schedule
– Develop a new proposed schedule that reflects the value and impact of trees and the Urban Forestry Division’s work
– Evaluate and propose changes to the municipal code to support new fees
– Engage with key stakeholders, including UFD managers, staff, and community stakeholders
– Develop and socialize the framework for the updated schedule of fees by April 2025
Qualifications:
– At least 15 years of professional experience
– Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
– Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
– Background in environmental science and/or municipal law preferred
Compensation:
This is a fellowship position with an annual base salary of $80,000. Fellows will also have access to health, dental, and vision insurance benefits. Compensation for this year of public service is not intended to represent market-rate compensation for experienced professionals.
