Finance and Grants Manager – Urban Sustainability Directors Network

Position Summary:
The Finance and Grants Manager will be responsible for managing the finances of the organization, financial reporting for grants, creating financial reports, and assisting in treasury management activities. This role will work closely with staff across the organization on various initiatives, projects, and processes.

Responsibilities:
– Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and forecasts
– Work with contractors responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, or bookkeeping
– Manage completion of vendor registrations, annual reports, and tax and corporate filings
– Provide information, training, and support to staff on financial functions
– Assist with accounting functions including accounts and grants payable, accounts and grants receivable, and payroll accounting
– Manage the organization’s general ledger and subledgers, including reviewing and posting journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
– Create and maintain financial controls and procedures for the organization
– Coordinate with the Independent Auditor and assist in the completion of the annual audit process and IRS Form 990
– Work closely with the Development Director to produce grant reports and other necessary documentation
– Provide technical assistance to staff of USDN and fiscally sponsored projects for grant management and reporting

Requirements:
– Awareness of nonprofit accounting standards, fund accounting, and compliance with GAAP
– Deep understanding of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles
– Minimum of 3 years experience in similar job functions, preferably in a nonprofit or member-driven organization
– Ability to create and manage budgets
– Proficient in general office software and budget creation and analysis software
– Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
– Thorough understanding of budgetary and accounting principles, practices, and policies

Terms of Employment:
– Full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Finance, People, & Culture
– Compensation range: $75,000 – $80,000 annually

Location:
– Fully remote, work-from-home position
– IT stipend provided to cover internet and phone use, computer and software, and other home office supplies
– 9 am – 5 pm Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific Standard Times, flexible working hours
