Summary:
The Southeast Climate & Energy Network (SCEN) is seeking a full-time Federal Program Specialist to support its mission of confronting the climate crisis in the Southeastern United States. As the largest regional collaborative of clean energy and environmental justice organizations in the region, SCEN works to create strategic alignment, grow capacity, and build power among member organizations and their communities.
Responsibilities:
– Serve as the main point of contact for members and partners regarding federal funding resources
– Coordinate collaborative efforts with member organizations, elected officials, nonprofits, business organizations, and other entities to produce innovative and equitable sustainability and resilience solutions
– Provide expertise on local and state government, as well as federal, state, and philanthropic funding opportunities to member organizations
– Offer technical assistance and guidance to members on grant applications, resources, and contacts needed for successful funding applications
– Plan and coordinate virtual meetings, webinars, and activities to engage members
– Support meeting planning and logistics coordination for federal funding focused convenings
– Build relationships among grantees and community partners and act as a resource and connector
– Develop and manage a comprehensive capacity training program for the nonprofit community
– Pursue non-grantmaking opportunities to further SCEN’s mission, such as serving as a community resource and participating in issue-focused collaboratives
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree and/or 1-3 years of work experience in a similar position
– Experience working with local governments and/or nonprofit organizations
– Understanding of communities in the Southeast and their specific needs in the development process
– Ability to manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously
– Proficiency in digital and collaborative office tools (Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite)
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
– Knowledge of federal grant application processes and experience with Bloomerang and GIS preferred
– Passion for addressing climate change, racial justice, and environmental sustainability
Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 per year + robust benefits package, including 100% employer covered health, dental, and vision, flexible leave policy, generous paid leave, and 403(b) Program.
