Dartmouth College is currently seeking an experienced and collaborative leader for the role of Executive Director for The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society. As the Executive Director, you will serve as a key leader and spokesperson for the institute, driving research initiatives, academic programs, faculty collaborations, revenue generation, and outreach efforts related to energy and society.

The Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society was established in 2017 with the mission to advance an affordable, sustainable, and reliable energy future for the benefit of society. By leveraging Dartmouth’s strengths in interdisciplinary teaching and learning, engineering, business, and sustainability, the institute provides innovative solutions to critical energy problems faced by communities worldwide. The institute serves as a central hub on campus and fosters collaboration among multiple departments and centers.
As the Executive Director, you will report to the institute’s Faculty Director and be responsible for developing a collective, collaborative vision and approach for Dartmouth to pursue the institute’s mission. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the overall fiscal health and operational sustainability of the institute, managing the institute staff and contractors, facilitating faculty and Board of Advisors engagement, and integrating the institute into the Dartmouth campus and community.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of current and future developments in the field of energy and society is highly desirable. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a track record of team building, academic interdisciplinary work, and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. Strong fundraising abilities and a passion for external engagements are also key qualifications for this role.
This is a full-time, in-person position located in Hanover, New Hampshire. The compensation for this role includes a generous benefits package and will be commensurate with experience.
