Overview:
The New Jersey Green Bank is seeking an inaugural Executive Director to launch this cutting-edge, mission-driven organization. The Green Bank’s purpose is to attract private sector funding to advance the State’s goals of advancing clean energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Green Bank’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. They will serve as the public face of the Green Bank with key partners and stakeholders. The Executive Director will guide the organization through its critical start‐up phase and initial growth, including managing the recruitment of additional staff and owning responsibility for the successful deployment of the organization’s first financial offerings and securing additional funding.
Responsibilities:
– Administer, manage, and direct the affairs and activities of the Green Bank in accordance with the policies, control, and direction of the Board
– Comply with all legislated oversight requirements and facilitate key annual public reporting obligations
– Work in coordination with the Board to maintain a strong and effective governance structure
– Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous evaluation, and consistent quality across all operations
– Lead, coach, develop, and retain a highly talented staff
– Actively engage with staff, officials, stakeholders, partners, and funders to build and solidify support for the Green Bank
– Develop and implement a capital development plan to raise funds that align with the organization’s mission and goals
– Design and launch innovative financial offerings to attract private sector investment, while also establishing risk management processes
– Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure successful financial offerings and market complementarity
– Lead communication and outreach efforts to build a reputable brand and expand business opportunities for the Green Bank
– Promote teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, with an emphasis in business administration or relevant field
– 10+ years of job-related experience, including senior management experience
– Demonstrated track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance-and outcomes-based organization
– Significant experience in public and/or private investments financing commercial projects
– Background in clean energy and/or climate finance, blended finance, and the ability to design and deliver effective financial programs
– Strong connections within and experience collaborating across the nonprofit, financial, energy, and public sector industries
– Experience coaching and developing high-performance teams, especially in a start-up environment
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
– Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and capital development
– Knowledge of clean energy technologies and the ability to assess risk for capital deployment
Salary Range: $159,300 – $194,700
