Location: Independence, Oregon, United States

About Us:
The Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC) is a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers working together to improve water quality and habitat conditions in the Luckiamute River and Ash Creek. We promote projects that protect and enhance natural resources in cooperation with local agencies, tribal communities, schools, organizations, landowners, industries, and businesses. With the support of a creative and engaged Board of Directors and a committed staff, we work tirelessly to improve conditions in the watershed.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a visionary and committed Executive Director to lead our team. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the organization in realizing its mission and advancing its vision. This includes building partnerships, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring that LWC’s programs embody its core values of equity, inclusion, access, shared responsibility, responsiveness to diversity, and accountability for impact.

Responsibilities:
– Work closely with the Board of Directors to advise and inform and facilitate communication between the Board and staff
– Facilitate the strategic planning process and regularly evaluate LWC’s goals and objectives, programs, services, roles, and responsibilities
– Manage LWC’s day-to-day operations and legal obligations, foster fiscal and organizational sustainability
– Direct and supervise staff, including recruitment, development, and retention
– Secure funding for continued operations, projects, outreach, education, and other initiatives through grants, partnerships, contracts, and donations
– Manage all budgeting and financial operations in cooperation with the Board and Finance Committee
– Foster and maintain positive connections with the community, constituencies, and other organizations central to LWC’s mission and programs
– Guide staff in pursuing landowner agreements and cooperation for project implementation
– Represent LWC to a variety of audiences and communities

Requirements:
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and management
– Proficiency in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, budgeting, and financial management
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent LWC effectively to various audiences
– Knowledge of modern project management methodologies and solutions, particularly in natural resource management and conservation
– Ability to work in a changing and dynamic organizational landscape
– Strong leadership skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with community members, stakeholders, and partners
– Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion
– Bilingual in Spanish, with bicultural lived experience (preferred, not required)
