Position Summary:
The Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) is seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director (ED) to lead a diverse and dynamic coalition across Oregon. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for advocating for our natural world through statewide policy development and uniting land trusts in Oregon to raise a collective voice for our lands and waters. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors, membership, and key partners to build the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring financial and programmatic success.
Key Responsibilities:
– Lead COLT with a dynamic vision for the future of land conservation, stewardship, community engagement, and justice in Oregon
– Build strong relationships and coalitions with diverse stakeholders, Indigenous communities, public and private partners, and policymakers
– Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, grants, and government funding
– Collaborate with the board, membership, and key partners to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan
– Advocate for land conservation and justice through policy development and engagement with local governments and agencies
– Lead and implement equitable and inclusive policies, practices, and initiatives within the organization
– Manage the organization’s budget, financial statements, and fiscal management
– Represent COLT and promote its mission and values in public speaking engagements and media appearances
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
– Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a membership organization, collaborative, or coalition
– Strong relationship-driven fundraising experience, including major gifts, grants, and government funding
– Experience in strategic planning and implementation at the organizational and coalition level
– Demonstrated commitment to equity, justice, and land access for Indigenous communities
– Knowledge of land trust standards and practices and an understanding of nonprofit organizational structure, policies, and procedures
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including Indigenous communities, public and private partners, and policymakers
– Experience working with nonprofit boards is preferred
– Knowledge of HR policies and procedures is preferred
– Grant writing and reporting experience is preferred
– Advocacy and policy development experience is preferred
