Salary Range: $100,000-110,000 (commensurate with experience)

The Iowa Environmental Council (IEC) is currently seeking an outstanding leader to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. IEC is the largest and most comprehensive environmental coalition in the state, with a mission to create a just, healthy environment and sustainable future for all Iowans. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing a team of thirteen staff members, and overseeing the organization’s operations, including a budget of approximately $1.5 million. In addition, you will play a key role in fund development planning, maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders, and work closely with the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
– Lead the organization in achieving its goals and objectives, including advocacy, fundraising, marketing, and education initiatives
– Manage a high-performing and engaged staff team, promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration
– Oversee financial matters, including budget development, audits, grants, and monthly reporting
– Develop and implement a fund development plan to increase unrestricted funding
– Build and maintain relationships with partners, supporters, businesses, and environmental agencies
– Communicate the organization’s message effectively to the public and media
– Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and operationalize strategic plans
– Recruit and engage new board members aligned with IEC’s mission and programs
Qualifications:
– Passion for the mission of creating a just, healthy environment and sustainable future
– Minimum of five years of management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
– Demonstrated success in organizational leadership, strategy development, and staff management
– Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and grant management
– Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups
– Strong financial management and budgeting experience
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
