The Environmental Sustainability Director is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Fort Collins’ healthy and sustainable environment. This role requires a dynamic leader to develop and implement policies, programs, and services that advance sustainability, air quality, climate, waste reduction, community engagement, and performance measurement. The Director will also lead the department-wide workload management and budget development.
Responsibilities:
– Provide leadership in the development and implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives
– Develop and manage short-term and long-term strategic plans
– Oversee department-wide workload management to ensure successful service delivery
– Lead the development and implementation of measurable outcomes related to the city’s sustainability goals
– Manage the department’s budget and coordinate with City Council Work Plan
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering, ecology, environmental planning, natural resources management, sustainability, or related field
– At least five years of experience in environmental sustainability
– Strong knowledge of natural resources management and environmental sustainability
– Experience in policy and program development
– Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders
– Master’s degree in natural resources management, environmental science, or environmental management desirable
