Job Description:
The Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Environmental Specialist position in the Office of Sustainability. As a member of the team in the Office of Sustainability, you will provide technical and administrative support to various organizations as a part of the County’s sustainability efforts. An ideal candidate coordinates efforts and collaborates with partners on local and state-wide issues, such as transportation electrification, community resilience and health, circular economy, and other sustainability related focus areas.
Key Responsibilities:
– Perform tasks directly related to regulatory compliance and permitting associated with environmental laws and regulations.
– Plan, oversee, review, and evaluate the work of professional service consultants and ensure that project and program goals are achieved.
– Manage complex and technical nature resource-related projects, including request for proposal (RFP) development, contractor selection, and budget tracking.
– Coordinate with federal, state, and local governments, private contractors, and nonprofit organizations on conservation related projects.
– Review and evaluate land and resource management plans, biological studies, and other technical environmental documents.
– Assist with the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
– Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other written materials.
– Maintain accurate records related to assigned areas of work.
– Provide information and education to the general public on environmental and natural resource issues.
Minimum Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Planning, Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field.
– 2 years of full-time professional experience in performing environmental and natural resource management analyses and studies.
– Full-time administrative experience in a field related to the work may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
– Possession of a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License (specified positions may require it at the time of appointment).
– Legally authorized to work in the United States.
