Job Description:
Come join our team! The Capitol Region Council of Governments is seeking a dynamic, and collaborative professional to join our Regional Planning and Development team as an Environmental Planner or Senior Environmental Planner.
Responsibilities:
– Provide writing, planning, research, policy analysis, and data gathering on environmental and sustainability issues and resources
– Support numerous CRCOG planning studies, including procurement, review of materials, coordination, graphic design, and community outreach
– Develop regional policy on environmental issues
– Collaborate with other staff members on environmental planning initiatives and sustainability related projects
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (Planning, Environment, Natural Resources, Sustainability, Geography, or related) or equivalent relevant experience
– For Senior level, a minimum of three years of relevant professional planning experience or a master’s degree in a related field
– Working knowledge of environmental issues and best practices such as solid waste and recycling, stormwater management, climate change mitigation, etc.
– Excellent computer skills including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, database, and other software
Skills and Abilities:
– Strong research, writing, and communication skills
– Ability to analyze various factors involved in environmental planning and policy
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
– Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments
– Ability to work independently and in a team
Preferred Qualifications:
– Spanish language proficiency
– Strong graphic design skills

Total Compensation:
The current salary range is $55,171 – $71,722 for Environmental Planner and $65,405 – $85,027 for Senior Planner. Starting salary will depend on qualifications. CRCOG offers a competitive benefits package including a defined contribution retirement plan, medical, vision, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, tuition assistance, and paid vacation and holidays. This is a full-time position with a 35-hour workweek.
