Job Description:
Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center is seeking an Environmental Educator/Residence Life Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will design and deliver environmental education programs for PreK-12 students, serve as the director of residence life for undergraduate students living at Merry Lea, coordinate non-student residential experiences, and provide support for undergraduate and graduate learning experiences. Additionally, you will deliver environmental education programs for PreK-12, family, and adult audiences through the Environmental Education Outreach program. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, Biology, or a related field, as well as 2-3 years of experience in delivering field-based education or managing cohesive group identities.
Responsibilities include:
– Delivering environmental education programs for PreK-12 students and coordinating training for educators
– Reviewing and developing curriculum for environmental education programs
– Serving as the director of residence life for undergraduate students at Merry Lea
– Assisting residents in establishing harmonious group living and positive learning community dynamics
– Supporting undergraduate and graduate learning experiences in the Sustainability and Environmental Education Department
– Coordinating field trips, guest speakers, and logistical support for faculty in the SEED program
– Gathering and organizing information related to the SEED program for review and enhancement
– Hosting visits to Merry Lea and providing tours of the residence village
– Attending staff meetings and participating in subgroup meetings as necessary
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, Biology, or a related field
– Master’s degree in a related field preferred
– 2-3 years of experience in delivering field-based education or managing cohesive group identities
– First Aid certification required (can be obtained after hire)
– Valid driver’s license
Salary: The annual wage for this position is $41,395 + benefits.
