The center also focuses on residence life for undergraduate students and provides support for graduate and undergraduate learning experiences.
Job Description:
Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center is seeking an Environmental Educator/Residence Life Coordinator to support their mission. This individual will have a variety of responsibilities, including designing and delivering environmental education programs, coordinating non-student residential experiences, and providing support for undergraduate and graduate learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver environmental education programs for PreK-12, family, and adult audiences
2. Assist with training for new and existing educators
3. Contribute to curriculum review and development
4. Serve as the director of residence life for undergraduate students living at Merry Lea during the fall Sustainability Semester
5. Coordinate residence life for other non-student residents, such as interns and student researchers
6. Assign rooms, check students in and out, and create relevant policies for residents
7. Facilitate engagement and communication between residents and Merry Lea and Goshen College personnel
8. Provide academic support for Sustainability and Environmental Education Department (SEED) faculty, including coordinating field trips and guest speakers
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Outdoor Recreation, Biology, or related field
– Master’s degree in related field preferred
– 2-3 years of experience in delivering field-based education and/or managing group living situations
– First Aid certification required
– Valid driver’s license
Skills and Competencies:
– Strong organizational and time management skills
– Ability to work independently and take initiative
– Knowledge of basic computer skills
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
