Reporting to: Executive Director
Compensation: $110,000-$125,000 annually, depending on experience + comprehensive benefits package

Job Overview:
As the Director of Member Services and Operations, you will report to and support the SSDN Executive Director in managing internal operations and strategically engaging SSDN’s membership. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of member services and engagement strategies, ensuring high levels of network engagement and peer connection. You will also play a key role in the development and execution of the SSDN Strategic Plan, collaborating with the Executive Director and Senior Executive & Director of Programs. Additionally, you will liaise and coordinate with SSDN’s fiscal sponsor, USDN.
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
– Support the Executive Director and Senior Executive & Director of Programs in establishing effective decision-making and operational processes.
– Assist in the implementation of SSDN’s Strategic Plan and provide thought leadership to the SSDN Steering Committee and ad-hoc operations-related committees.
– Lead the day-to-day implementation of SSDN non-program member engagement operations.
– Provide guidance in organizational strategy implementation and professional development planning.
2. Direction of Membership and Growth:
– Direct and oversee core membership services and partner engagement activities.
– Collaborate with the Senior Executive and Director of Programs on member engagement in programs.
– Oversee the development and access of the Member Resource Library and member peer learning opportunities.
– Conduct member surveying and metrics gathering activities.
– Develop communications to members and stakeholders about SSDN offerings, membership, and services.
– Support the Executive Director with membership growth strategy and impacts on organizational business strategies.
– Maintain relationships with partners supporting organizational and network sustainability and growth.
– Provide support to the Executive Director and Development Director on fundraising and development strategies.
3. Direction of Organizational Culture and Internal Operations:
– Direct recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for staff working for SSDN.
– Ensure compliance with HR requirements and support organizational and staff compliance.
– Develop and maintain HR processes, including employee work plans, feedback systems, and professional development activities.
– Foster a supportive and humanizing workplace environment and manage DEI learning initiatives.
– Plan and execute logistics for staff retreats and team building activities.
– Maintain communication with SSDN’s fiscal sponsor, USDN, regarding budget and financial reporting needs.
4. Internal Workflow and Process Management:
– Develop and monitor workflows for network-facing processes, including membership, sub-grantmaking, and reporting.
– Develop and manage internal controls and policies for coordination and communication.
– Address emerging issues related to accounts payable, contracts, and partnership facilitation.
– Facilitate contracts and partnerships via USDN’s contracting and MOU processes.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
– Experience in nonprofit leadership and management.
– Ability to travel up to 20% as needed.
– General understanding of HR functions, regulations, and best practices.
– Working knowledge of software platforms, databases, and hardware.
– Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
– High emotional quotient (EQ) and ability to work well with diverse personalities.
– Strong time management and organizational skills.
– Creative problem-solving and ability to think strategically.
– Collaborative approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
– Demonstrated responsiveness and ability to meet internal and external deadlines.
– Experience working in growth-oriented environments.
