Job Description:
Join our team at the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation as the Director of Development & Communications! We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual to lead our fundraising, communications, marketing, and event management efforts. As the Director of Development & Communications, you will collaborate with staff, board members, and volunteers to develop and execute strategies to attract donors, partners, program participants, and community supporters. This role will also involve building awareness for our mission throughout the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
– Build a culture of philanthropy across all programs to support the organization’s mission and strategic priorities in collaboration with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff.
– Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board Advancement Committee.
– Set and monitor annual fundraising goals and budgets, evaluate ongoing performance, and make forecasts to ensure meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
– Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, including corporate business leaders, foundations, and individuals.
– Work with the Development and Communications team to properly record and maintain donation records.
– Plan and direct fundraising events to meet annual goals, including coordinating staff and volunteer event committees.
– Coordinate communication strategy and execution as the lead for the Public Communications Team, including stewarding marketing and branding materials and producing content for fundraising appeals and impact reports.
– Research funding sources and collaborate with staff to apply for grants and public funding.
– Support the implementation of community or school volunteer workdays in collaboration with the program staff.
Qualifications:
– Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fundraising, communications, or related roles in a nonprofit organization.
– Demonstrated successful track record in annual, major, and/or planned giving campaigns.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Experience using fundraising software and tools for progress tracking, prospect research, auctions, and communications.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
– Knowledge of tax planning principles favoring charitable giving.
– Ability to work independently and as a team member, with excellent interpersonal and managerial skills.
– Experience in supervising and motivating fundraising staff, board members, and volunteers.
– Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
Desired Qualifications:
– College degree or equivalent certification in fundraising, nonprofit administration, business management, or related field.
– Proficiency in speaking and writing in Spanish.
– Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or similar credential.
Compensation and Benefits:
– Annual salary range: $83,200 – $93,600/year.
– Competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and retirement plan participation.
