Job Description:
NALCAB, a national organization dedicated to economic and community development, is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Climate and Energy Initiatives. This position will focus on leading NALCAB’s efforts in national climate initiatives, integrating economic asset building and climate finance, and promoting environmental justice.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and lead NALCAB’s focus on national climate initiatives, including economic asset building and climate finance.
– Drive equitable policy and strategy development related to infrastructure delivery.
– Direct the implementation of new climate policies and programs.
– Present professional work at meetings, workshops, and conferences.
– Develop content, interact with external members and partners, and take the lead on multiple parallel projects.
– Find strategic solutions that advance net-zero emissions and build climate resilience.
– Exhibit cultural relevancy and work effectively in diverse environments.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Environmental or Urban Economics, or related fields.
– 5+ years of supervisory or program management experience in community-oriented environmental and climate initiatives.
– 5+ years of experience in community development with a focus on environmental justice.
– Experience with green financing and affordable housing projects.
– Knowledge of federal environmental and climate grant programs.
– Strong research, analytical, and project management skills.
– Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Master’s degree from an accredited university in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field.
– Bilingual in English and Spanish.
– Experience working collaboratively with various disciplines, including urban planning, urban design, and architecture.
– Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis in sustainability, resilience, equity, public health, and economic and community development.
