EPN is organized into three non-hierarchical geographic hubs, each with independent staff and steering committees. EPN North America, a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, is seeking a Director to lead their network hub.
Job Description:
EPN North America is looking for a dynamic individual who can maintain and enhance their network’s strong position and successfully establish and execute a strategic vision for its future. The Director will collaborate closely with the Steering Committee, EPN North America staff, and counterparts in the EPN International and EPN China hubs. They will be responsible for fostering strategic networking among member organizations and key industry stakeholders, as well as representing EPN North America globally. The Director should have experience in environmental campaigning, coalition building, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop and oversee short and long-term strategic, programmatic, and financial goals in coordination with the Steering Committee and staff.
– Provide regular progress reports to the Executive and Steering Committee on annual goals and budget.
– Monitor program effectiveness and identify new areas of work.
– Lead in the execution and oversight of programs, goals, objectives, and policies to align with the Global Paper Vision.
– Support the Steering Committee in its governance role and maintain strong relationships with member organizations.
– Participate in global coordination and communication committee efforts with EPN International and EPN China.
– Raise awareness about EPN’s issues within the foundation community and cultivate new sources of funding.
– Lead communication efforts, including media and social media presence and messaging aligned with the Global Paper Vision.
– Manage staff, foster a healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
– Proven affinity with the environmental and social movement and a willingness to become an expert on forest and paper sustainability issues.
– Compassionate, inclusive, and inspirational leader with high emotional intelligence.
– Proven experience as a strategic thinker and coalition builder, with experience in strategic planning.
– Demonstrated success in operations and program management, including a strong fundraising track record.
– Strong communication skills, including public speaking and proficiency in written and oral communication.
– Ability to work collaboratively and independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks.
– Willingness to travel frequently to build and maintain relationships with members and stakeholders.
Compensation:
– Salary range: $80,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
– Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plan with employer contribution, 12 paid holidays, 20 days vacation + 10 health/wellness days.
