Job Description:
Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and food systems? Do you have experience working on a commercial, diversified vegetable farm? Dickinson College Farm is looking for a motivated and experienced Crew Leader to join their team.
As a Crew Leader, your primary responsibility will be to lead and mentor novice student workers, six-month apprentices, and volunteers in tasks related to the production of certified organic vegetables. You will set the pace, maintain morale, and ensure successful completion of tasks. Effective communication, delegation, and oversight will be crucial in this role.
In addition to your leadership duties, you will also have the opportunity to take on individual responsibilities based on your skills and interests. Past Crew Leaders have engaged in pest/disease management, compost production, greenhouse management, advanced tractor operation, and more.
The Crew Leader position begins in early spring and ends in mid-December. Compensation includes a competitive hourly wage, a 30-week CSA share, and access to food raised on the farm.
To be considered for this position, you must have at least two full seasons of experience on a commercial, diversified vegetable farm. Personnel management experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with a strong technical background and a willingness to take on a leadership role will also be considered.
