West Virginia Rivers Coalition (WV Rivers) is an organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of water-based recreation and clean, drinkable, swimmable, and fishable rivers and streams throughout West Virginia. WV Rivers is a founding member of the West Virginia Climate Alliance, which involves 20 organizations working together to educate and activate West Virginians on climate impacts and solutions. The organization is also a licensed program of Waterkeeper Alliance and the state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation.
Job Description:
WV Rivers is seeking a Climate Project Manager to support members of the West Virginia Climate Alliance in maximizing the long-term impact and sustainability of climate organizing throughout West Virginia. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Alliance partners to develop and execute strategies and campaigns that build public support for science-driven climate action and address the impact of energy transitions on workers and communities. Your responsibilities will include coordinating Alliance activities and actions, strategic planning, base-building efforts, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, project tracking and reporting, and other related tasks.
Qualifications:
– Commitment to relational work and experience in building and managing partnerships
– At least 3 years of experience in coalition building, community organizing, or campaign management
– Background in and/or interest and ability to learn about policies and legislation related to climate and public health
– Excellent written and oral communication skills
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, and working understanding of cloud-based applications like Google Groups, Google Docs, Office 365, and WordPress
– Comfort and confidence in working in remote working environments and utilizing relevant technologies
– Valid WV driver’s license and ability to travel outside of regular business hours as needed
– Commitment to equity, justice, and supporting individual and organizational growth in these areas
– Passion for climate justice
Responsibilities:
– Coordination of the WV Climate Alliance, including convening and facilitating meetings and activities, supporting mobilization of organizational actions, and following established operating guidelines
– Strategic planning for the Alliance, setting short-term and long-term goals and developing strategies and work plans to achieve them
– Capacity building efforts, including coordination of project strategies to strengthen collective base-building efforts, cultivation of relationships with partners and stakeholders, and management of project contractors as needed
– Fundraising, including development of strategies and proposals to implement project activities and working with grant writers as needed
– Project tracking and reporting, including managing work plans, preparing project budgets, and maintaining required documentation and administrative tasks
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $40,000 – $65,000, and it is dependent upon experience and qualifications. WV Rivers offers a competitive benefits package that includes 80% employer-paid health insurance, beginning paid annual leave of 23 days and up to 12 sick days annually, an employer contribution to a retirement plan, and a monthly telework stipend. This is designed as a full-time, exempt position, though a contractual arrangement could be negotiated.
