Job Description:
As the Climate and Natural Resources Manager for the City of Milwaukie, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time – global warming. This position requires a combination of scientific knowledge, community engagement, and creativity to develop innovative solutions and strategies for a more sustainable and equitable future. Your work will have a direct impact on the community, region, and planet, transforming the way we live, work, and interact with the environment.
Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement programs and projects that support the city’s climate action plan and climate-related policy.
– Manage the city’s urban forest program and develop programs and projects that support it.
– Ensure compliance with surface water environmental regulations and manage environmental compliance programs.
– Engage with the community on climate, urban forestry, environmental compliance, and natural resources-related programs, and present information to the City Council.
– Support the development of the city’s natural resources programs and manage the natural resources team.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, natural resource management, renewable energy, urban or regional planning, or a closely related field.
– Three years of experience in climate action planning or sustainability, with at least one year of supervisor or leadership experience.
– Strong knowledge of climate-related policies, urban forestry, and environmental compliance.
– Excellent communication and presentation skills.
– Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community members.

The City of Milwaukie offers a competitive salary range for this position, starting at $8,188 per month and going up to $10,438 per month. The exact starting pay will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and education, in accordance with the city’s pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Additionally, a comprehensive benefits package is offered to all City of Milwaukie employees.
