The NYC Department of Buildings is seeking a Chief Plan Examiner, Energy Code to join their Bureau of Sustainability team. In this role, you will play an essential role in implementing New York City’s ground-breaking climate policies, including Local Law 97 which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions from the city’s largest buildings. As the Chief Plan Examiner, Energy Code, you will manage the energy code plan examination unit and perform supervisory work in the energy analysis of structures and building equipment systems. You will also be responsible for examining and reviewing design and/or equipment plans and specifications for conformity with the NYC Energy Conservation Code, department rules, and other pertinent laws and rules.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience in architecture, energy management, engineering, environmental science, or a related field. A license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is also required. Preferred skills include experience in the application of local and state building codes related to energy conservation, proficiency in interpreting whole-building energy simulation reports, and certification as a Certified Energy Manager and/or LEED accreditation.
