Job Title: Chapter Director – Sierra Club California
Location: Sacramento, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $150,000 (non-negotiable)
Reports To: Sierra Club California Personnel Committee Chair
Sierra Club California is seeking a Chapter Director to lead and manage the organization’s work in California. As Chapter Director, you will be responsible for the strength, growth, and sustainability of Sierra Club California. You will work closely with the Chapter Executive Committee, local chapters, and Field Department staff to develop and implement strategies for operations, advocacy, and fundraising.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop and manage the California Chapter’s financial resources, including budget preparation and fundraising strategies.
– Lead Sierra Club’s work at the state level by building relationships with staff, volunteers, and organizations across California.
– Supervise and manage Chapter staff, providing organizational structure and accountability.
– Oversee strategic planning and execution of campaigns and programs.
– Manage communications and external relations, serving as a spokesperson for Sierra Club California.
– Ensure compliance with financial, tax, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
– Proven leadership experience within nonprofit or volunteer-led organizations.
– Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
– Financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising.
– Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
– Experience in grassroots organizing, training, and coalition building.
– Commitment to sustainability and environmental issues.
– Knowledge of California political and environmental landscape.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Supervisory experience, including management of multiple employees.
– Experience in legislative lobbying and political campaigns.
– Knowledge of climate, biodiversity, and environmental policy.
– Familiarity with California political and environmental justice issues.
