Oceanic Global is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to shedding light on humanity’s interconnectivity to the ocean and providing solutions that protect our blue planet. We are currently seeking a Blue Director to oversee, lead, and grow our Blue Standard program and core offerings. The ideal candidate is a leader in the sustainability and hospitality industry, passionate about working with businesses to provide scalable solutions for the health of our ocean and planet.
Responsibilities:
– Spearhead overall program strategy for the Blue Standard program
– Develop and implement business development strategy to expand the program globally
– Manage the Blue team, including overseeing new business, client and partner relations, project management, technical expertise, and data analytics
– Identify and lead strategic partnerships to integrate Blue with other sustainability standards and platforms
– Represent Oceanic Global and Blue in speaking engagements, press opportunities, and events
– Lead business and market transformation by generating interest in Blue programs and grants
– Engage with cross-industry stakeholders and aligned nonprofits focused on sustainable development
– Develop and refine strategies, processes, and program value propositions
– Support ongoing community building, resource integration, and marketing efforts
– Provide technical expertise and leadership related to single-use plastics, waste management, and other relevant topics
– Oversee program development, management, and budgeting
– Identify and implement strategic business partnerships and grants
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or related field
– 7-10 years of experience in sustainability, hospitality, or CPG industries
– Strong technical expertise and proficiency in sustainability topics, including plastics and material science
– Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
– Ability to lead and manage a team
– Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and remotely
– Global mindset and passion for creating positive impact
Salary and Benefits:
– Full-time salaried position (40 hours per week)
– Competitive salary range ($75,000-$100,000), depending on experience and location
– 21 days of paid time off plus 11 public holidays
– Healthcare stipend
